It’s a six-person race for two seats on the Petersburg borough assembly. Tuesday, August 21 was the deadline for candidates to file for local office. Incumbent assembly member Nancy Strand filed her paperwork to run for re-election. Former assembly member Bob Lynn also threw his hat in the ring. They’ll join Taylor Norheim, Don Spigelmyre, Marc Martinsen and Bill Tremblay on the ballot. The top two vote getters in the October 2nd election win a three-year term on the assembly.

Most of the other seats on local boards drew interest. A three year term on the hospital board had no takers. Two people filed for the same seat on the planning commission but one plans to withdraw and run for a different seat as a write in candidate. Vacant seats can be filled by assembly appointment or by a write in candidate. The deadline to file as a write in candidate is 5 p.m. Friday, September 28th.
