New preschool to start application process April 1

Petersburg School District released more information about the new preschool opening at the Rae C. Stedman Elementary school this fall. It will be a part-time preschool running Tuesdays through Fridays from 8 a.m. to noon.

Petersburg High School to require weekly COVID-19 testing of most student athletes

Petersburg School District will soon require rapid antigen testing for most high school athletes. Some districts in Southeast have already been doing this type of regular COVID testing but Petersburg hasn’t needed to until the town’s recent outbreak, which hit a high of 68 active cases by early March.

Petersburg school board to consider pretesting for activities

According to the school district, some schools in Southeast have begun requiring pretesting for COVID in order for students to compete or host home games. The issue will be discussed during a regular school board meeting, Tuesday, March 9, at 6 p.m.
