Contractor removes some of Petersburg’s scrap metal

A contracting company hauled away about 1,300 tons of scrap metal from Petersburg’s landfill earlier this month.

Petersburg borough concludes no harassment occurred between assembly members and police chief

Following a public records request from KFSK, the Petersburg borough Monday released a complaint filed by the local police chief against two borough assembly members. Chief Jim Kerr alleges harassment over his public statements against enforcing masking or requiring testing for COVID-19. Attorneys for the borough have investigated and the borough says the conduct by assembly members did not qualify as unlawful harassment.

Coast Guard cutter Pike holds open house in new home port

The U.S. Coast Guard cutter Pike has arrived in Petersburg and has replaced an older and larger ship on fisheries and search and rescue patrols around Southeast.

Forest Service seeks more comments on new cabin site suggestions
