State senate write-in candidate runs on protecting PFD check
60-year-old handyman Michael Sheldon of Petersburg is pushing his message of protecting the annual Permanent Fund Dividend check for Alaskans as he campaigns in the final week to unseat a long-time incumbent in the state senate. Sheldon is running a write-in campaign against fellow Republican Bert Stedman of Sitka, who has held the seat since 2003.
