Topi Karikorpi spent the past year attending Petersburg High School and says the education system and food here is different than it is back home in Finland.

The first hospital in Petersburg was a large house that was purchased for $3,500 in 1917. It was run privately for a little while until the town took it over in 1922.

Fifth graders from Petersburg’s Stedman Elementary School got a first-hand look at what goes on inside a courthouse last week. A mock trial “The State of Alaska versus Goldie Locks” was performed so the students could learn the roles of the jury, attorneys, and witnesses.
