School board to vote on FY 2019 budget

Petersburg School Board will meet Tuesday to vote on a budget for the next fiscal year. Also, they’ll go over student handbook changes at Stedman Elementary School including dress code changes.

Petersburg police officer becomes statewide DARE coordinator

Petersburg police officer, Jared Popp, has been named DARE coordinator for Alaska. He’ll be the liaison between Alaska and the lower 48 police departments participating in the program.

Renovations planned for Petersburg schools this summer and fall

Remodeling projects inside Petersburg’s schools will be happening this summer and next fall. They include building a kitchen in the middle and high school, expanding the elementary school cafeteria, and switching up the kindergarten and special education classrooms at the grade school.

Petersburg elementary to consolidate playgrounds, create green space near main entrance

More playground work will continue at Petersburg’s elementary school this summer. The school will consolidate playground equipment to one side of the building and make the other side a green space sitting area.
