Most Petersburg residents 65 and over who don’t pay the borough’s sales tax will need to pay a fee next year to avoid the six percent tax on purchases. The borough assembly Monday, February 26 gave the final approval for an administrative fee for the tax exemption card.

The Petersburg borough and the union representing the bulk of borough employees have reached a tentative agreement on a new contract. Terms of the new agreement with the Petersburg Municipal Employees Association have not yet been released. The pact still needs to be voted on by the employees as well as the borough assembly.

For one woman from Petersburg, her first trip outside of the country was to compete at the Roller Derby World Cup early this month in Manchester, England.
Victoria Moore, who goes by the derby name “Deckem,” was one of 17 skaters on Team Indigenous, a new entry at the World Cup. The competition, February 1st-4th, featured 38 teams from around the globe.

The Petersburg borough is in the process of approving new code for development of property in the borough. The planning commission Tuesday held a hearing on new draft language that covers everything from building standards to zoning classifications and subdivision layout.
