Petersburg pickled herring contest winners announced

Kurt Kvernvik, Jim Edgars and Glo Wollen were the winners of the 2017 Pickled Herring Contest at the Sons of Norway Hall, Wednesday, December 13.

Forfeited moose meat goes to schools, service organizations

Volunteers picked up hundreds of pounds of moose meat from the community cold storage in Petersburg last Thursday afternoon, for distribution around town. Service organizations and the schools will make use of the forfeited meat from this fall’s hunt.

Petersburg hospital to pay for financial study

Petersburg’s hospital board Thursday agreed to pay for a study on financing a new or remodeled building. They also heard a presentation by a representative with a regional health care provider which is expanding its services and partnerships in Southeast.

PHS wrestlers fourth, second at region tourney

Seven wrestlers from Petersburg High School will be heading to the state tournament this weekend after taking some of the top spots at the region five Southeast tournament in Ketchikan last Friday and Saturday.

Petersburg foundation awards mini grants

An endowment fund in Petersburg in November paid out mini grants to 10 organizations in the community. The Petersburg Community Foundation awarded its first ever mini-grants to local non-profits.
