Petersburg’s active COVID-19 case count rose to 37 on Tuesday, November 2 with seven new cases reported.

Petersburg’s borough assembly Monday voted to move forward with purchase of the equipment needed for a multi-million dollar renovation of the Blind Slough hydroelectric project on southern Mitkof Island. The assembly also heard about the rate increases for local customers to pay for that and other generation work approved by voters last month.

Petersburg on Monday saw one of its highest one-day totals of new COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.

Petersburg’s number of active COVID-19 cases increased again late last week.

Alaska’s Board of Fisheries has agreed next year to consider a change that could help research for a burgeoning mariculture industry.
