Petersburg High School’s varsity volleyball team finished in fifth at the Juneau Jive tournament last weekend. The Vikings took second at the tournament a year ago, losing in the championship to Thunder Mountain. This year’s tournament had had some surprise upsets and tough competition among 2A, 3A and 4A schools from Southeast.

A wide-ranging revision of Petersburg code on zoning, construction and subdivisions passed the first of its three readings by the borough assembly this week. Assembly members are seeking more comment on potential changes and don’t expect a final vote on the new code until December.
