Petersburg’s Independence Day fireworks on July 3rd

Petersburg’s Independence Day celebration will span two days next week and will see a few changes in the schedule this year. The Fourth of July festivities are put on by Petersburg Parks and Recreation, the chamber of commerce, the volunteer fire department, Lighthouse Assembly of God Church as well as multiple other groups, volunteers and businesses.

Petersburg fisherman rows 40 miles plus in warmup to Race to Alaska

A Petersburg fisherman this month rowed his way through the warm up of this year’s Race to Alaska from Port Townsend, Washington to Victoria British Columbia. Jacob Hammer dodged container ships and fought through strong tides and wind in a 13-foot row boat. He has his sights set on the full race next year.
