Petersburg’s active COVID-19 case count dropped to 26 Monday, November 29, the lowest count since early November for the community.

Petersburg tree lighting honors teen’s homecoming

Petersburg’s Chamber of Commerce kicked the Christmas season into higher gear Friday with a tree lighting and parade on main street. This year a local teen who recently returned home from nearly a year of cancer treatment pulled the switch to illuminate Petersburg’s Christmas tree.

More cases, active count drops

Petersburg Medical Center reported ten additional COVID-19 cases yesterday Tuesday, November 23. With others recovering from the illness the community’s active case count dropped to 68, according to a PMC press release. The dashboard showed that dropping to 63 by Tuesday evening.

Petersburg to purchase new boilers for pool building

Petersburg will be buying two new boilers for the 15-year-old community swimming pool. The borough assembly Wednesday agreed to skip a public bidding process and purchase that replacement equipment from a company that’s helped with repairing the building over the past year.

Petersburg assembly strikes fines from masking law

Petersburg’s borough assembly Wednesday, November 17 passed a new emergency ordinance on masking that expands areas where face coverings are required during the community’s largest outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. But the assembly removed proposed fines for businesses and individuals who don’t comply, despite frustration that residents are ignoring mitigation measures and spreading COVID in the community.
