However assembly members expressed interest in ending that tradition. The Chamber of Commerce retail committee requested tax free days on May 7th and October 8th as a way to encourage purchases from local stores, instead of out of town or on the internet.

The Petersburg Volunteer Fire Department was just wrapping up training in Scow Bay when the call came in around 4 p.m. Sunday afternoon. Residents in a home near Rory’s Road reported the fire broke out in two trailer homes on their property, one used as a residence and another used as an office.
