The Petersburg Ragnarök Rollers beat the Garnet Grit Betties of Wrangell Saturday night 124-108 in the first of two home bouts the team has this spring. The Wrangell team had several skaters from Juneau and Sitka rounding out their numbers.

Legislation to increase the Petersburg borough’s land grant from the state passed the Senate Monday, April 10. The bill would transfer more than 14,000 acres to the new borough, which hopes to develop or sell off some of the property.

The state’s Marijuana Control Board Wednesday approved what could be Petersburg’s first retail store for marijuana. The board voted to approve a license for Susan Burrell and her business The 420.

The Petersburg Ragnarök Rollers host the Garnet Grit Betties of Wrangell for the Rök and Roll Bout of Fame Saturday night at the Petersburg High School gym. The Ragnarök Rollers traveled to Wrangell last weekend for four bouts between the two roller derby teams. Saturday’s contest between the two is one of two home bouts for the Petersburg team this spring.

The first licensed marijuana business in the Petersburg area is preparing to grow pot plants this spring and expects its first harvest in June. The grow operation, Southeast Moog Droog is in a newly constructed building at Papke’s Landing, about 10 miles south of downtown Petersburg.
